From the December 12, 1994 issue of THE SPOTLIGHT, published by Liberty

LESSON FROM STALIN: CONTROL FOOD AND POPULATION FOLLOWS
Are the globalists planning a national food shortage for the United
States?
Exclusive to The SPOTLIGHT
by Mike Blair
As part of its effort to integrate the United States into the so-
called "New World Order," the administration of President Bill Clinton
may be attempting to create an artificial food shortage.
Critics contend this would place the Americn people at a great
disadvantage during a presidentially-declared national emergency
requiring martial law.
From a variety of sources, including one of the nation's largest
retail outlets for so-called survival products, The SPOTLIGHT has learned
federal authorities, including the FBI and US Army Criminal Investigation
Division (CID), are in the process of seizing stores of military surplus
MRE's (Meals, Ready to Eat) from distributors across the country.
As this story was being prepared, at least a half-dozen distributors
of MRE's which consist of pre-packaged prepared meals for the military
that have a shelf life, without refrigeration, of several years without
losing their nutritional value, have been seized by federal agents.
CONFISCATION
The SPOTLIGHT has learned that one East Coast distributor recently had
all of its sealed cartons, each containing a dozen MRE's seized by Army
CID agents operating with local police.
According to SPOTLIGHT sources, the federal agents claimed that he
MRE's had been stolen, which was contrary to the fact that the
distributor had contracts and bills of sale for the products.
The documentation was ignored by the agents, who also maintained,
sources said, that the MRE's cannot be legally maintained or sold to the
public in their sealed and plastic-strapped cardboard boxes.
The CID agents, according to sources, seized the products with
warrants served on the distributors after they were escorted into the
establishments by local police.
NO ARRESTS MADE
In every case thus far reported, no arrests have been made, just he
confiscation of the products, which indicates that no laws have actually
been broken.
[typists' comment: except the law that "thou shalt not steal," committed
by Army CID here]
Distributors of the products were reluctant to discuss the seizures
with The SPOTLIGHT, fearful that they would be subject to reprisal
actions by the federal agents.
MRE's are being purchased in vast quantities by survival groups,
civilian militia groups that are forming all across the nation and
weekend campers and backpackers who find them convenient due to their
nutritional value, easy storage, relative light weight and ease of
preparation. They require only heating but can, if necessary, be eaten
cold.
The meals are also widely distributed to relieve foreign famine and
in the United States during natural disasters, such as floods and
hurricanes.
Obviously, the confiscations will have a major impact on the ability
of survival and militia groups to obtain the MRE's.
Reports have also been received by The SPOTLIGHT that other items
have been seized by the agents from some of the distributors, including
nuclear, biological and chemical warfare (NBC) protective gear, together
with suits and gas masks, as well as certain other military surplus items
that bear any type of serial numbers.
In all cases, according to The SPOTLIGHT sources, the items have
been legally purchased as military surplus.
FEAR ATTACKS
The NBC gear is also being widely purchased by survival and militia
groups, who are fearful of being attacked by chemical agents, such as
were used by the FBI and other federal officials during the final assault
last year on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas, in which dozens
of member of the religious community died, including 17 children.
As The SPOTLIGHT continued to receive reports of the MRE seizures
and other confiscations, other persistent reports were reaching the
newspaper concerning the mysterious underground storage of food products
by federal officials in bunkers located in various western cities.
There have been several reports, as an example, of a massive food
storage complex being located in the vicinity of Springfield, Missouri.
Sources have told The SPOTLIGHT that he government appears to be
stockpiling vast sources of food products, which would be rationed during
any type of national emergency.
Most households in America purchase their food products on a weekly
basis, with most grocery stores stocking sufficient product for a week
or two at the most.
If the delivery by truck of foodstuffs to markets across America was
suddenly severed, severe food shortages would occur in most locations in
a matter of days.
Under such situations severe civil unrest could be expected to
result, bringing governmental intervention to distribute rationed
supplies of food and to control rioting and looting, all of which would
be conducted under FEMA administration.
Backed by the repressive so-called Omnibus Crime Law of 1994, which
Clinton signed into law last October, the president could declare a
national crime emergency by Executive Order, thus establishing conditions
of the suspension of civil rights and, in fact, the Constitution of the
United States.
Under such an executive Order, the country would be governed by the
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA; see The SPOTLIGHT, Oct. 17 and
previously) under emergency conditions of martial law.
An Executive Order signed by President Jimmy Carter during his
administration is already in place to enable such executive action. Under
such a program the distribution of food would be carefully regulated and
rationed.
